Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for questions to be asked about his position following a further convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received plenty of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points of course but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot expressed regret over known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase of this nature with outcomes so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we’re always going to battle.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to the top, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
