Brian Eno Urges Backing to Send Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.

A charity drive is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The campaign seeks to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Chance for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”

Defiant Message of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.

“The song holds a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The song was recorded in the wake of a major charity concert held in September. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the piece was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.

The impressive roster of musicians featured on Lullaby includes a selection of well-known figures from the music world. All took part in the earlier concert, which successfully generated a considerable total for humanitarian aid.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a team of producers and composers. The single showcases a mix of the heritage language with new English lyrics.

The group managing the initiative have emphasized that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These proceeds will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a figure commented. “We aim for whatever we can get. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The reality in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of infrastructure reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a few million won't make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is primarily raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”

The track is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
