NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage includes live text for Sunday's games on various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage is available on designated networks covering a separate game (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six in the NFL season , after recent discussion regarding two top teams being possible championship contenders, they both lost their unbeaten records.

Notable in those games was the number of penalties each committed. The Eagles did so in key moments so they essentially defeated themselves having led 17-3 going into the final quarter versus Denver, set to play in London this Sunday.

However it proved positive to see that Denver quarterback the rookie was able to have that deficit and then lead three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, securing the victory 21-17.

Denver have the top defender with CB Pat Surtain II. They are number one in red zone defence, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in red zone offence, yet the Broncos prevailed in that contest.

They executed effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They weren't always sending extra defenders but they could position two linebackers in the interior then withdrawing them and send a slot defender from the outside.

At the start of the season, we said on a program how the Broncos might emerge as this season's dark horses. They finished last season strongly and excelled in continuing that momentum.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?

Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has excelled significantly while recent RB JK Dobbins is a guy they believe in. He's currently 5th in the NFL in ground gains (402) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (four).

I love how the coach Sean Payton displays "RUN IT!" at the top of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates that Denver represent a squad that wants to prioritize the run, since one can do a lot based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush while maintains in favourable situations.

It's also benefited quarterback the young passer, who entered into the league as a first-round selection in the prior draft, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to pass anywhere, however they lack in the same way that Nix has. He boasts incredible passing ability, which is different, and he is highly agile.

His strengths are his movement, being able to pass while moving, as well as using different arm angles to make throws when he rolls outside protection, on rollouts. He can deliver precision throws across the middle and past defenders.

As a rookie QB, at 25, he displays a lot of composure under pressure and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He aims to avoid being tackled whenever possible and is able pass in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.

If you constantly rush it consumes the clock and forces the opponent to stay in play for longer, and when you've got a mobile QB the defense must cover the field vertically side to side. It can be exhausting.

Nix has pushed back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and it seems the coach likes that fire, seeing him as a fierce rival. I think it's fun for the coach to have a young quarterback that is similar to play-dough. He can truly develop him the way he wants to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for him.

The head coach has won a championship and has passed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the achievements the Broncos are experiencing offensively is largely down to his leadership, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix helps make him what he is.

You wouldn't want a more qualified person guiding you, to assist you through difficult moments and build confidence.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team strong enough to go against a top squad at its best? Since that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.

Currently, it's unlikely the Broncos are elite. They're working better than most, which is a solid position to hold the AFC West. All they need is to continue this trajectory.

They excel at embracing their strength, which is the ground game, and this is exactly what they must do versus the New York Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.

The Jets have surrendered 140 yards on the ground each contest (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (10th worst), and they are the sole squad yet to win any game.

Since the league started recording takeaways in 1933, this team are also the inaugural squad to be without a single takeaway through five games, which is surprising when you think that the head coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs are off to a poor start following Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.

Following this Sunday's game, Denver have a manageable slate up to their bye (in week 12) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.

Looking at their division, Kansas City hold a losing record while Denver are even with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the West.

This hinges on which form Kansas City shows up they face since the Broncos {beat|def
