19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-term trainer Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of that year.

The win also indicates he has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

His defensive play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.

However the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an better service.

The champion fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to create a final set.

Moutet defended four initial opportunities in a tight third set before the Russian won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to control a shot after a lengthy match.
